The Rythm and Booze Project Bottling No.2

A 28 year old HHD. Distilled at the Isle of Jura distillery.

Tasting notes. 

Nose: Jura’s typical cinnamon bun aroma opens up to persimmons, chai tea, and heaps of caramel.

Palate: An initial hit of bread and butter pudding becomes fruitier, a combination of raspberries and plums, as well as a little more leathery with time. 

Finish: Warming and spicy. This is a whisky that likes a cuddle.

DISTILLED 11th Feb 2009 AND BOTTLED 22nd of March 2021

The cask yielded only 257 bottles and it was bottled at natural cask strength 52.1%

A rare cask for Lady of the Glen as we have only ever released traditional Bunnahabhain that are not peated. The distillate led cask has matured for 12 years in a HHD cask.

The tasting revealed, ripe grapefruit with a sweet smoke and mineral character.

This triple distilled spirit, unusual for Scotch, is produced to be light and pure. The sweet citric distillate was matured for 21 years in a single refill bourbon barrel. However, the barrel leaked over the course of that period and the eventual yield was only 30 bottles.

The cask yielded only 30 bottles and it was bottled at natural cask strength 51.30%

Distilled on the 26th October 1999 and bottled 18th January 2021.

The tasting revealed - Crushed almond and cocoa, candied ginger and ripe mango with banana.

Inchmurrin is an unpeated distillate produced at Loch Lomond distillery. From the distillery’s unique range of distillates, Inchmurrin is the lighter and fruiter distillate produced with malted barley and distilled through the straight neck pot stills. This particular spirit was aged in a HHD for the majority of its maturation and it was reracked in an Oloroso HHD for the last few years.

The cask yielded only 225 bottles and it was bottled at natural cask strength 52.80%

DISTILLED 28th Apr 1998 AND BOTTLED 19th Mar 2021

The tasting revealed - fruit cake, dried tobacco and cloves.

Founded in 1949 on the site of a historic brewery and re-opened in 2003. Distills a light, floral and oily spirit. Aged in American oak before maturing a further 14 months in an ex-oloroso cask from the Josafer Bodega.

The cask yielded only 175 bottles and it was bottled at natural cask strength 57.30%

DISTILLED 25th Sept 2006 AND BOTTLED 8th Feb 2021

The tasting revealed -Antique furniture, manuka honey and sweet dried cherries

A medium bodied distillate with malty notes of honey and spice. Matured for 22 years in a single refill barrel to encourage smoothness in the spirit with floral and vanilla notes.

The cask yielded only 155 bottles and it was bottled at natural cask strength 52.00%

DISTILLED 10th Nov 1998 AND BOTTLED 8th Feb 2021

The tasting revealed - Lavender, orange barley sugars and ripe pineapple

A workhorse distillery produces a medium bodied spirit with floral and spice notes. Matured for just under 8 years in a refill HHD before being finished in a Giraud Rivesalts barrique adding sweetness and depth.

The cask yielded only 306 bottles and it was bottled at natural cask strength 56.70%

This lightly peated distillate from the Northern Isles, famous for its heather honey style and light citrus character, is perfectly complimented with sherry cask maturation.

The cask yielded only 348 bottles and it was bottled at natural cask strength 58.80%

DISTILLED 1st Feb 2007 AND BOTTLED 16th Feb 2021

Nose - light leather and charred oak initially followed by a smoked oranges and heather character.  With time, exotic spice, dried fruits ands and creme brûlée notes emerge.

Palate - honey on toast, vanilla and bitter dark chocolate immediately flood the taste buds, but mellows to reveal a spicier character of nutmeg, cinnamon and smoked vanilla cream.

Finish - long and with a bitter sweet balance of strong coffee and glazed cherries.  This mellows with developing aromatic peat and high quality coco powder.

Although within the Speyside region, the costal location of this distillery adds a freshness to its waxy and nutty new-make character.  This refill PX hogshead has offered a gentle fruitiness to the spirit.

The cask yielded only 268 bottles and it was bottled at natural cask strength 55.80%

DISTILLED 18th Jan 2008 AND BOTTLED 17th Feb 2021

Nose - fresh and sweet with vanilla, sultanas and a whiff of brine.  Heather honey develops with some soft spice and caramelised onion notes.

Palate - sweetness continues but this time with more fresh fruit - tangerines, apples, peppered strawberries and tinned pineapple.  This all wrapped in a cinnamon dusted pancake.

Finish - lingering spices remain but with notes of desiccated coconut, dry oak and a hint of smoke add sophistication.
