Q3 Outrun 2024
The Q3 outrun is about to be released and we are delighted to present six new Lady of the Glen and the third edition of our St Bridget’s Kirk Solera release.
Within the Lady of the Glen releases we have two sister casks of casks released last year in Q3 including a heavily Sherried 13 year old Longmorn and a different style of Port finish Auchentoshan at 16 years old! We have a peated release in the form of a 11 year old Caol ila with a Rivesaltes finish. Inchgower 12 year old with an Oloroso finish and 10 year old Strathmill which has been maturing for over half its life in an Amarone wine cask. Lastly, we have the remnants of a Cambus fully matured in an Oloroso butt, only 121 bottles but bottled at 32 years old.
The St Bridget’s Kirk we have for this outrun is the 3rd edition of the Solera System. We have described this within our team as the definitive version of the solera system – this is the spirit that has lay in each vessel of the three cask system the longest so we are pleased to reveal it to you now! Bottled at 48.5% and the yield is only 218 bottles! You can see the review the Batch 2 here, 85 points on WhiskyFun!
The Longmorn was reracked into an ex-Oloroso HHD at the same time as the sister cask but this year’s release in 1 year older. This heavily sherried dram expresses notes of fruit cake, walnut and cinnamon among thick sherried notes.
The Auchtentoshan was similarly reracked at the same time as the sister cask except this release is a Ruby Port finish so expect Turkish delight, red fruits and that familiar honeycomb chocolate present in the last year’s release
Inchgower 12 Years old. The coastal location of this distillery adds a freshness to its waxy and nutty distillate. Matured in a HHD before being finished for over 3 years in a first fill Hidalgo cooperage ex-Oloroso cask. Expect new leather, sandalwood and apricot marmalade!
Strathmill Ex-Amarone Cask finish. A sweet and fruity distillate with distinct spicy and floral notes. Matured in a HHD before being finished in a Veneta Botti ex-Amarone wine cask for over 5 years. The heavy bodied red wine cask has resulted in notes of butterscotch, rolling tobacco and toasted almonds.
Caol ila 11 years old, A peaty distillate matured in a refill hogshead and finished in a Rivesalts cask, from Giraud in Segonzac, for over 2 years giving notes of orange natural sweetness, tangerine and fruit jam.
Cambus, Single Grain. Closed in 1993, this increasingly rare single grain spirit once highly prized by blenders was matured in a ex-oloroso butt for well over 32 years.
